Janick
Gers est né le 21 janvier 1957 à Hartlepool (Nord-Est de
l'Angleterre) où il y grandit. Le premier groupe dans lequel il
a joué fut "White Spirit" de 1975 à 1981. Le groupe
a sorti un album intitulé "White Spirit" et deux singles
: "Midnight Chaser" et "Back to the Grind", tous datant
de 1980. Après son départ, il rejoint le groupe Gillan (Ian
Gillan) en juin 1981 pour le quitter en décembre 1982. Deux albums
sont enregistrés : "Double Trouble" en 1981 et "Magic"
en 1982. En 1985, il rejoint Paul DiAnno et Clive Burr pour sortir un
maxi single sous le nom de "Gogmagog" intitulé "I
Will Be There". Après cinq ans d’absence où il
décroche un peu du monde du show-biz, on le retrouve de nouveau
avec sa guitare entre les mains au côté de Bruce Dickinson
sur l’album "Tattooed Millionaire" sorti en 1990. La même
année, il joue sur un des titres du premier album solo de "Fish"
(Ex Marillion) - "Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors". Le morceau
s'appelle "View From The Hill". Cette même année,
Iron Maiden doit sortir un nouvel album bien qu’Adrian Smith aie
quitté le groupe. Bruce propose de faire auditionner Janick et
celui-ci et engagé comme deuxième guitariste du groupe. |

Premier
album solo de Fish après sa séparation avec Marillion. La
participation de Janick Gers sur le titre "View From The Hill"
le rend fort intéressant pour les collectionneurs dans mon genre.
Petite précision au niveau de la pochette, il s'agit d'une illustration
de Mark Wilkinson, celui-là même qui à fait les pochettes
de "Wicker Man" et "Out Of The Silent Planet". |
